Beyond the Basics: Advanced Training for Competitive Employment
The Helen Keller Services for the Blind TEAM Program offers a unique blend of advanced computer skills and customer service training, tailored to meet the demands of the modern workplace. By providing resources, guidance, and support, TEAM creates an environment where participants empower themselves with the confidence and skills to successfully navigate a variety of roles in today’s job market.
What is TEAM?
TEAM is an intensive program designed for job seekers who want to enhance their computer skills and customer service abilities. Our goal is to prepare you for employment by combining computer-based applications with real-life, job-related tasks. The combination of computer skills and customer service training emphasizes the importance of being a well-rounded employee. Our program equips participants to:
- Perform administrative duties efficiently
- Follow instructions accurately
- Meet deadlines consistently
- Demonstrate excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Problem-solve effectively in the workplace
- Adapt to changes in the work environment
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries
Our mission is to produce employment candidates who are competitive and can confidently meet the rigors and demands of the modern workplace. This comprehensive approach ensures that our graduates are prepared for success in a variety of professional settings.
Program Structure
The TEAM. program consists of six modules spread over approximately 30 weeks. Classes are held remotely via Zoom, twice a week for 10 hours each week. This includes 6 hours of class instruction and 4 hours of lab time. To ensure personalized attention, class size is limited to six participants.
Our program is divided into two main components:
- Advanced Computer Skills Training: Participants will master Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as internet skills. The first module also covers essential software and hardware terminology.
- Customer Service Skills Training: Throughout the program, participants will develop crucial soft skills such as professional communication, workplace English composition, employment and diversity awareness, job hunt strategies, and self-marketing techniques.
Who Should Apply?
Ideal candidates for the TEAM program are individuals who:
- Have successfully completed basic assistive technology training
- Meet established baselines in typing, note-taking, and reading comprehension
- Are motivated to become competitive job candidates in today’s market
