Leanne Cook

Regional Representative

Leanne Cook proudly serves as the Region 6 Representative, bringing with her a wealth of experience and a deep-rooted passion for the DeafBlind community.

Originally from the Pacific Northwest, Leanne’s career has been dedicated to supporting individuals with sensory impairments. Her journey began with attendance at an interpreter training program, sparking her interest in deafblindness. Joining the team at the National Center on Deaf-Blindness, she participated in the development of the Open Hands Open Access Intervener (OHOA) Training Modules.

Driven by a desire to expand her knowledge, Leanne pursued a Master of Science degree in Special Education: Visually Impaired Learners from Portland State University. This education equipped her to work closely with blind and DeafBlind youth as a teacher of the visually impaired. After transitioning into a role supporting educational teams in Oregon, Leanne focused on meeting the unique needs of DeafBlind children and building competency and capacity throughout the state.

She remains committed to continuing her journey of service and making a positive impact in Region 6, grateful for the opportunity to be part of such a vibrant community.

Outside of work, Leanne enjoys water sports and spending quality time with her friends, family, and beloved dog.
