At the Helen Keller National Center (HKNC), supporting agencies that serve DeafBlind individuals is central to our mission. While short-term trainings focused on awareness and specific skill development continue to play an important role in professional learning, experience has shown that lasting, system-level change requires a more sustained approach.
Intensive TA is not a one-size-fits-all program. Each partnership is tailored to the agency’s specific goals, structure, and resources. HKNC works closely with leadership and staff to identify gaps, prioritize areas of focus, and co-develop a strategic plan that is practical, relevant, and sustainable.
Agencies participating in Intensive TA may engage in a combination of:
A common option is a year-long or flexible-length TA partnership that includes a tailored online learning hub, monthly facilitated discussion groups, and intentional development of internal trainers or mentors. HKNC provides coaching and shared materials so agencies can continue this work beyond the formal TA period.
Whether your agency is building DeafBlind expertise for the first time, strengthening an existing training system, or preparing staff to take on leadership and training roles, Intensive TA is designed to scale to your needs. HKNC partners with agencies to create solutions that are realistic, achievable, and aligned with long-term goals.
