North Shore, LI – Assemblymember Charles Lavine (D-North Shore) has secured a grant for a camp for children with disabilities. To make the announcement, Lavine visited Camp Helen Keller, which is run by Helen Keller Services for the Blind (HKSB) on LIU Post University campus in Greenvale. Lavine attended the camp’s end of year show and announced the grant in the amount of $25,000.
“It gives me great pleasure to do whatever I can to enable this facility to continue to do all the wonderful things it does for these kids. The hardworking staff is dedicated to improving self-esteem, self-confidence and socialization skills. This was evident in today’s show in which the kids seemed to be having so much fun,” Lavine said.
