HKNC’s communication training is tailored to your specific needs and preferences, whether you’re interacting in your community or in your workplace. The communication instructors will work closely with you to identify your best approach to communication strategies, including braille, sign language, and haptics. Working closely with your peers, inclusive environment encourages collaboration and fosters learning, creating a supportive community where you can develop your communication skills with confidence.
HKNC will work together with you to increase your independence at home and in the community by providing training on innovative technologies and effective strategies.
Our team of independent living instructors is dedicated to equipping you with the tools you need to manage your home safely and efficiently. Training covers a range of essential skills, from cooking and cleaning to budgeting, shopping, and managing bills.
We recognize that living independently requires mastering a variety of tasks, and we’ll work closely with you to build your confidence and competence. The instructors will provide you with personalized coaching and support, ensuring that you meet your goals.
Travel should not be a barrier to independence. We will work with you to provide you with the skills and strategies to help you travel as independently as possible. Through our comprehensive training program, you’ll learn how to navigate unfamiliar environments, utilize public transportation, and mitigate risks while traveling.
The instructors will guide you in selecting the appropriate travel aids, such as a white cane or street-crossing cards, to ensure your safety and comfort. You’ll also develop effective communication strategies to use while traveling to your place of work and in your community.

The Adaptive Technology Center (ATC) is equipped with the latest and most advanced adaptive equipment and software, providing you with access to cutting-edge technology. The ATC specializes in individualized training, creating an environment where you can explore a range of mobile, desktop, and telecommunications solutions, with the goal of ensuring that you receive the training to reach your goals.
