Mental Health Services Overview
At HKNC, our goal is to provide you with everything you need to thrive on campus and beyond—including emotional support.
Whether you are dealing with a specific situation or you just feel like you need to talk to someone, our licensed social worker is here to help. Throughout your training, you can take advantage of individual or group counseling sessions, which are available on campus. The social worker also can meet with your family via voice phone, Skype or conference call, if you think that would be helpful to you or them.
One of the best ways to work through your issues is to share your experiences with people who know firsthand the challenges you face—your peers.
We offer a variety of support groups to foster meaningful discussions and connections between peers. Choose from existing groups or talk to the social worker about the possibility of starting a new one. Our support group offerings are continually evolving to meet the needs of our students.
Current support groups include:
- Adjustment to Deaf-Blindness
- Women’s Group
- Men’s Group
- Usher Syndrome Support Group
- Young Adults Group
