“Working with Helen Keller turned out to be a blessing. I was not one who wanted to go to college. My first counselor Francesca Flanders encouraged me to get a college degree to help my chances in obtaining a job. Which it did. With the help of LightHouse International and Kim O’Conner. After unforeseen circumstances I needed the help from Helen Keller once again. I met my new counselor William Youberg who assigned Guichard Louis to my case. Guichard was patient with me as we worked together in finding a new job that I both wanted to do and that would be a good fit for me and my skills set. Guichard was knowledgeable and always suggesting jobs to me that he found and researched. Helen Keller along with Guichard and Karen Barrett would set up class time for me and others to work on our resume writing and interview skills. They gave me the skills and confidence not only to find a job, but also be a productive worker at that same job. With their help I was able to find a job with the Great Neck Park District. Thanks to Guichard and Helen Keller, I learned and have the tools needed to succeed at work in my current position as a clerical worker with the possibility to advance further. While in class I worked with others who had visual impairments. After seeing how others, with similar circumstances as my own, handled their issues, I was impressed and I gained hope. Thanks to Guichard and Helen Keller I am gainfully employed and confident I can succeed at my current job. I would recommend Helen Keller to any one who needs Vocational help that has visual issues. I would recommend Guichard because he is patient, dedicated, Knowledgable, has his clients interest to heart, works hard to see his clients potential be filled. I was fortunate to work with Don Horn as well. I hope this helps Guichard. I meant every word.” -Charles Fulham
