Passing of HKS Chair and Board Member, Mary Pigott Ottavino
Helen Keller Services (HKS) mourns the loss of its longtime Chair and Board Member, Mary Pigott Ottavino, who passed away on October 11th at the age of 91.
For over 40 years Ms. Pigott Ottavino strengthened and furthered the mission of HKS within the blind and deaf- blind community. In addition to ensuring HKS provided the best services and programs nationwide, she was a champion of the entire staff, encouraging them to pursue “academic enrichment” and be leaders in the field. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Ms. Pigott Ottavino made her home in Forest Hills, New York. Ms. Pigott Ottavino held a B.A. in Psychology from the College of New Rochelle, an M.S. in Guidance and Counseling from Long Island University and a Ph.D. from New York University in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling. Our heartfelt condolences to her family.
