This year’s Helen’s Run/Walk 2016 on Sunday, April 17th promises to be bigger and better than ever.  To get the ball rolling and spread the enthusiasm, a Kick-Off breakfast was recently held at Helen Keller National Center headquarters in Sands Point for interested community members, HKNC students and staff.  The participants enjoyed a healthy breakfast donated by Whole Foods Market-Long Island and were inspired by Maricar Marquez, a program coordinator at the Center who is deaf-blind, who told about her experience running a New York City Marathon.  Sara Siskind, a culinary nutritionist and lifestyle counselor gave the audience some helpful hints on how to live a healthy lifestyle and raffle prizes were graciously donated by Soul Cycle, Setton Farms and Massage Envy.   All proceeds from the Run/Walk 2016 will go directly to HKNC's recreation project which includes renovating and upgrading the gymnasium on HKNC's campus in Sands Point.
