May it be the first of many to come!

Ten youngsters celebrated their graduation from Downtown’s Helen Keller Services for the Blind preschool program on Friday with a commencement service that left one mother gushing with gratitude for the specialty school for the visually impaired.

“It was really nice,” said Cynthia Ramos, whose 4-year-old daughter Winter graduated from the program. “It’s a wonderful school and they are truly a blessing.”

The Willoughby Street school has been helping the visually impaired since 1893 — and the most recent class of squirts marked their accomplishments with diplomas, awards, and a celebratory feast, organizers said.

Ramos — whose daughter started at the school when she was 2 years old — said the institution played a big role in helping her hone her motor skills.

Now Winter will move onto another school, but Ramos says she will always have a warm spot in her heart for Helen Keller.

“When she started there she blossomed,” she said. “It’s just like a family — they help you with anything you need.”
