Proctor N. Wong, HKSB Trustee, Executive Vice President – MKJ Capital Resources

Proctor N. Wong has more than 20 years of commercial real estate and banking experience. Recently, he was an Executive Vice President and President of Real Estate and Capital Markets for New York Community Bancorp. (NYCB). In his role at NYCB, Mr. Wong sat on ALCO, was responsible for the oversite of large loan originations and syndications, the Loan Recovery Unit and all of NYCB’s owned and leased properties. NYCB’s property portfolio consists of over 240 branches and 4 office buildings throughout a 5 state footprint. Prior to joining NYCB, Mr. Wong was an Executive Vice President and Principal at Newmark Knight Frank. He was the founder and head of Newmark Knight Frank’s Bank Services Group (NKF BSG), which serviced the real estate portfolios of national and multinational banks. During his career, he has completed numerous transactions for some of the largest banks in the greater New York City area, including Bank of China, Bank Leumi, Capital One, Citicorp, Dime Savings Bank of Williamsburgh, GreenPoint Savings Bank, HSBC Bank USA, Independence Community Bank (ICB), Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), New York Community Bank, North Fork Bank, Provident Savings, Republic National Bank of New York, Signature Bank and Valley National Bank.

Prior to joining NYCB, Mr. Wong has completed many notable transactions, including advising ICBC on the formation of the bank’s CRE mortgage loan origination platform and arranging their first mortgage loan on 650 Madison Avenue. The $355MM first mortgage refinancing of 650 Madison, for a Carlyle Group/Ashkenazy Acquisition partnership, was ICBC’s first large CRE mortgage loan in the U.S.. Mr. Wong is also an expert in the design and implementation of de novo branch expansion programs. He was the architect of Independence Community Bank’s and Valley National Bank’s de novo branch expansion programs to in-fill their existing branch networks in the NYC Metro area. Due to NKF BSG’s extensive due diligence processes and procedures, NKF BSG’s clients have never closed a de novo branch due to underperformance. Mr. Wong has a two decade history of executing a variety of real estate requirements on behalf of retail banks, including merger and acquisition advisory assignments, servicing and analysis of retail bank branch portfolios, branch sale/sale-leaseback analysis and implementation, property valuation and disposition, loan analysis and underwriting, etc.

Mr. Wong’s philanthropy includes donating his time as a trustee of Helen Keller Services for the Blind. He is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York and a licensed real estate advisor in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

Mr. Wong is a graduate of the NYU Stern School of Business.
