Cheryl A. Merritt-Giles, Esq.

Merritt-Giles Named Managing Director of Human Resources

July 6, 2010, New York — Cheryl A. Merritt-Giles, Esq. has been appointed Managing Director of Human Resources, it was announced today by Thomas J. Edwards, President & CEO of Helen Keller Services for the Blind.

Cheryl began her career with Pan American World Airways, Inc. After 10 years as an international Purser and Flight Attendant leader with Pan Am she became Supervisor of Human Resources in the In-Flight division. In 1991, when Delta took over Pan Am, Cheryl was named Field Service Manager at their JFK International and LGA locations.

In 2001 Cheryl was promoted to Human Resources Generalist and Business Partner to direct the corporate HR function for the 5,000 non-union employees at the JFK, LGA Main and Shuttle, Newark and Boston Logan Airports. In 2004 she was promoted again to Program Manager of Equal Opportunity-Investigations and Corporate Compliance Programs for Delta Air Lines, Inc.

Cheryl was Personnel Director in Network Human Resources and Labor Relations with Generations/Northern Manhattan Health Network of Health and Hospitals Corporation and Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer for the Morris Heights Health Center. More recently, Cheryl served as a mediator for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in the New York City District Office.

Cheryl completed her Juris Doctorate at Pace University in 2003 and has been admitted to the Connecticut Bar. She is pending admission to the New York Bar. Cheryl also holds an MS in HR Management from LIU and a BS from Fisk University in Tennessee.
